Seriously Kid?

Is this the face of a child that become a mutant at night????
If you answered "yes" then you are correct! All of you remember the sleeping issues I was having about two months back? Well after one week with his dad, Preston has morphed once again into stubborn sleep toddler. We are back to sleeping out of the bed. The newest place? His armchair! So I have removed it from his room at night (which starts a tantrum). He is back to camping on the floor in a corner (he asked for the closet and I told him that he was just not going to sleep in a closet). I put him back in the bed and in the morning he is back on the floor. Argh! My mother told me to choose my battles. At least at the new house when he sleeps on the floor there is wall to wall carpeting and not a wood floor. I have to say though he slept 12 hours with no issues last night so maybe the floor is his thing.

Kim!

You are so funny. I wonder where he gets these ideas to sleep? and what he thinks is wrong with his bed? ... and yes, I think your mom is right, we have to pick our battles. I've been told that a time or two before!

I've been meaning to tell you, and was reminded again today. After your post about gas a while back -now everytime I get gas I wonder why are there three different types of gas when the same gas truck delivers it from one big tank on the truck :0)

Have a good weekend!

Yes Kim, our "monsters" wear the cutest faces!!

Seriously, if Preston doesn't want to sleep in his bed, let him lie where he'll lie. Eventually he'll crawl back into his own bed!!

Poor mommy!! Kids are stressing arn't they ;)

I'm with you on the 2-3 year olds with sleep issues! We just moved Riley into a room with Laynie to try to help her sleep better. She was getting up for an hour and a half every night before she fell asleep. That was before the sleep fairy came and left a present if she didn't get up....worked like a charm. Nothing like bribing a kid to sleep, but whatever, and wherever works!!

Bribing has always been one of my most respected parenting tips. If it works, use it. Preston is so darn cute that it must be hard to be stern with him. I think I'd just give in all the time. But then, that's a grandma talking.

Buy the kid one of those little fold out couches and let him sleep on the floor - maybe if you don't act like you care he will tire of it (could it have become a game for him?) Preston is looking more and more like a big boy every day!

Kim,

I'll trade with you. Parker has been getting up twice a night since his adenoidectomy (in early July). I would let him sleep in the bathtub if it meant he wouldn't get up for 12 hours! :-)

Sleeping through the night is a myth in our house.

Hehe... he's so cute it's almost worth it! I'm gonna throw this out - try hanging a sheet or blanket over the bed and make a tent for him! Maybe that will be exciting enough that he'll want to go back to bed :-)

I would say maybe he doesn't like being off the ground but he loves sleeping in your bed! So I think he's just prolonging the inevitable like Pher used to do. Mike's idea with the sheet sounds cool so it's worth a try.

Hey, sleep is sleep right. As long as he's comfortable and you get a break for 12 HOURS!!! That's great.

I'm sure it'll be an adjustment at the new house, but he's a trooper and he'll adjust much better than you might imagine. Probably, way better then we adults do. : )

It is SOOOOOO true. Coming from the Mother of a (almost) 25 year old and a (almost) 18 year old...TRUST ME...pick your battles. Let him sleep in the chair! And when you become a YaYa like me....you can let him eat CAKE FOR BREAKFAST.

Don't sweat the small stuff.
