HUGE NEWS!!!!!!!

I have very big news....We are moving! Preston and I are moving to Richmond Virginia in two and a half weeks. This is something that has been on the back burner for quite a number of years and finally coming to fruition. As an attorney we have certain states that are reciprocal with New York-meaning I do not have to sit for the bar examination. (Which I would never do anyway, once was enough thank you). Virginia is one of them. My friends Sammy and Jordana moved down after law school and have been there ever since. They just had their first child Maddie two months ago. I have always loved it down there and last summer brought my parents down.
My mother and father fell in love and in February they began construction on a brand new home. They sold their house on Long Island as well. My father is co-owner of a surgery center in New York so he will be doing the one hour flight down and still working in NYC as well. Preston and I are moving in with them until I decide if I want to buy a resale or build a home for us.

It's a huge change, a huge risk and I am actually pretty nauseous that I just quit my very good, very well paying job. I am owed over a month's salary from unused vacation and I have a position for the time being (of course I am so nervous that the recruiter is going to call and say there is no more work). It gives me the opportunity to find what I really like in a firm down there and meet people. Preston is already registered in a brand new (three month old) school which is gorgeous! I feel like I just made such a crazy decision, but truly my life here has been on hold for over two years-no dating, oppressive rent, oppressive tuition, so now I have the opportunity to change my whole life. I am so nervous because I am not a risk taker AT ALL! So wish me luck. (Don't worry I will still be back to NYC for the convention).

Here is a picture of the new home! More to come.

Kim! Congratulations!! I'm so excited for you. I'm sure everything will work out for you. You are a brilliant girl (I can tell from your blog) with a great personality (ditto on the blog stuff) and beautiful (ditto) so your move will be seamless and a great new start! But I'm so disappointed no more vegetation in the preschool. I hope the new one has a creative name! Best wishes.

I'm very excited for you and Preston. I hope the move goes well and I wish you lots of happiness in the new adventures! I can't wait to hear about it as you go. I'm also so glad you will be there next year for the convention!!

Congratulations on your upcoming move! It sounds like you are making a decision that you are excited and happy about, and that is what's important. When we drive up to NJ next month, we'll have to meet at a rest stop on our way through. :)

The house is absolutely insanely beautiful by the way!!

Wow, Kim, the house is beautiful! I think I'd be shacking up there a little longer than originally planned :-) I don't know how your parents will be able to give up living under the same roof as Preston anyway! SO excited for you guys, I can't imagine how crazed you must feel right now...but what a fantastic opportunity that lies ahead of you. We must talk soon! Maybe tomorrow night?

Congratulations! The first thing I though was - how is she leaving her parents? Then I read on - how wonderful for you to go together!! That house is big enough that you could have your own wing :) Richmond is only about 100 miles from DC and I am in DC a lot for work, maybe we could meet up sometime - I'd love to give Preston a big hug!

Hehe... looks like several others beat me to the convention worries - Cherylle read this to me earlier today when she noticed your Facebook status change, and my first thought was "so much for the girls night out Cherylle was looking forward to!" but you answered that at the end.

Well, then, as someone who made a significant move (to Los Angeles, purely speculative on my part at the time, we were leaving Cherylle's very good job behind to give me a shot at getting one for myself!) I wish you the best of luck, and can tell you that it definitely can work out for the best! I dunno if I could ever move out of that house, tho!

Wow, you crazy girl!! This adventure sounds so exciting!!! Richmond is only 1bout 1 1/2-2 hours away from us (I think)...maybe we'l have to plan and take the boys to the zoo there--I hear it's a pretty fun one.

Kim, you deserve this. You waited a long time to get to this point. The decision you made was not crazy and very well thought out. It will be a huge change but you'll have mom and dad there so it won't feel TOO huge, just a little huge. And it's better living for you and Preston down there. You'll have some financial padding from the vacation pay so don't worry too much about the money. Seriously, 40 bucks for a meal? The prices can't be beat! You'll have a wonderful time meeting new people. Also, I can come up and watch the Little Man if you need to pack. Don't hesitate to ask. Love you!

Wow! That's so exciting. Of course, I'll be back in NY in December and was hoping we could meet up then. Now, I've got to find a reason to get to Richmond - with Liz!

Congratulations! I'm so excited for you and Preston and your new adventure, and I hope once you arrive in Richmond that you can take a deep breath and feel at home. It is a great area, as I'm sure you know from your friends living there. My family is a little over 2 hours from Richmond (we're in Annapolis, MD - close to the Halls), so maybe we will get to see you at Regionals or meet another time after you are settled.

Good luck with your move! Your parents' house is beautiful!
