My Son has Gotten Some Sun

Going through the pics for the blog this week I realized just how tan Preston is, even with wearing SPF 195 for kids. This picture I took last weekend when he got a little too much on his nose. I was dragging the fish from the pool:

Preston hangs in my room a lot to play with the little bear on my bed that he bought me for Mother’s Day that sings “Wind Beneath my Wings.”

My parents were in Chicago last weekend and Preston really wanted the wooden CTA trains to add to his collection. Naturally there was no transit store that they found so thanks to the internet, these arrived (along with a NJ Transit for good measure) at my mom’s two days later. His eyes are shining. Literally. It would be if like you took me to Louis Vuitton and said pick out four new bags you’d like.

Chris and Anna were in Europe a few weeks back. They are going to the Olympics next year (of course they are-these are people who when you ask them what they are doing for the weekend they say things like, “Jump out of a plane”). Anyway, they picked up this jersey for Preston. I feel good about this, getting Olympic gear before the Olympics. Unlike the last time when I was cheated out of the USA Ralph Lauren hat…still bitter.

Here is my little goofball and I. Because of rain today (so. not. happy), we are not outside. Boo. Hope everyone is having a great week!!!

Catching Up!

With so many events going on I have not posted about our POLP meet up in Sandy Point Park in Maryland two weeks ago. The Mazur family was up for Peyton’s appointments in Baltimore, so the Mid Atlantic families got together.  Preston had a blast at the beach with his friends.  I forgot why I hate the beach with kids until after when nine pounds of sand was in my car.  I’ll let the pictures do the talking:

Even though Pres has quite the tan, the sun was so strong and I made him wear his shirt.  Pres and Simon are becoming very good buddies.  Even saw each other twice in one weekend!

Seriously I cannot deal with that picture of Pres and Pey!  They are adorable!  The Mazur girls are very good swimmers and Pres was so excited to jump right into the mix!

This weekend we have done ZERO traveling after two fun filled weekends but spent a ton of time up at the pool.  Apparently it’s very hot outside this weekend.  Preston had his first swimming lesson today.  It’s amazing how much he listens to adults other than myself.  He is becoming quite the little fish, even under water!  He also loves jumping off the sides of the pool-especially to show off to the pretty girls in bikinis.  Yesterday after we came home and he ate dinner I told him I was jumping into the shower.  When I came out and there was dead silence I walked into his room only to find this-

Here are some pics from the pool today! We just came home for lunch and we are heading back in!

New York Getaway

We hadn’t been to New York for a long time and with Chris in from Arizona, what better time.  What a whirlwind weekend.  Lots of visiting and driving.  Got to spend time with my oldest friends, Mel and Cheryl. Thursday we rolled up north and get to my parents’ apartment.  The apartment is located one block from the East River with a fabulous park.  Preston had a great time running all over the place.

Friday morning Pres and I headed over to the “Surge” or the surgery center where Aunt Tinka works.  Preston had a great time getting loved on by everyone and exploring PaPa’s office.  And always photo opportunities with my beautiful sister!

Then it was off to Long Island to have brunch with Aunt Cheryl!!!

Third stop on Friday was my cousin Jeffrey and Phyllis’ house.  Gosh our family is LOUD!  Phyllis is the most amazing cook and homemade Italian food….yes please! Preston and Uncle Charlie were infatuated with Jeffrey’s bike.

Last stop was Aunt Melski’s.  We spent the night there and then when off to Katie and Steve’s in the morning.

Katie and Steve moved to the South Shore on the water.  The pool overlooked the bay with the most fantastic breeze.  Preston enjoyed lots of pool time with his aunt and uncle!

IMG_7611

It’s so funny how Katie and I get so many freckles on our nose as soon as we are out in the sun! I will also point out how clearly the sun is stronger in Virginia!

IMG_7613

Last stop for Saturday was a huge Italian meal at Umberto’s with Grandma and Father Bill.  So much food.  It was AH-MAZING. I further point out that while Katie did a fab job on her make up, I did her hair!

The Camengas Visit and Busch Gardens with the Greenes!

What a fun filled few days.  Emily and Devon and the three amigos came through Virginia on their way to Myrtle Beach.  It was such a great visit.  Emily was my very first POLP friend and it is unreal that the boys are 6 and 5 1/2. Liam was of course the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.  Mel told me I should steal him.  I almost did.  The kids played as if no time had passed since the last time we saw each other.  It was so great to catch up with Emily and Devon too. Here are some pics of the kiddos!

Devon was such a good sport with three wild beasts on his back!

An impossibility to get three kids to smile and one not be silly!

After breakfast and a much too fast visit, we were off to Busch Gardens to meet up with Jenn, Jason, Simon and Jude.  We did miss the storms. (Pres and I were having ice cream when the first one hit!) Pres always has a blast with Simon.  It’s so great that they are becoming such fast friends.  Jenn and I must also share a tiny part of a brain.  We were both wearing matching shades of nail polish on our toes!  Out of all the colors and brands-same one!
