Second to Last Weekend in New York

And jam packed it was! My cousin's girlfriend Jess gave Preston a Remy the Rat doll so that prompted me to DVR Ratatouille. Preston and I snuggled up on the couch on Friday night and watched a movie (O.K. I confess-I totally stole the movie night idea from Danielle and figured if Peyton can sit through a movie then so can Preston)! He made it about an hour and a half. The movie was really cute, but seriously cartoon movies should not be two hours. Attention span people! I am very glad our generation of Disney/Pixar has cut back on the whole violence in cartoons such as shooting a parent, having a scorned lion uncle kill his brother, scary looking witches, etc. Very wholesome that little Remy and his critter friends were. Preston also can say ratatouille pretty well now too. That is more French than I remember considering Mel and I remember "Bon"and "Il fait chaud." (Which means, "the guy is hot." Hey that was a useful phrase when you were 16 and most people chose to take Spanish over French! And to continue this rambling-since Mel and I pretty much retained no French from taking it for six years, once her Dad told us we could only speak on the phone in French while she was at her upstate home. That conversation was pretty short. We might have thrown in a "oui" for good measure).

Saturday we had a play date with Rossana and Andrew. I met Rossana when she was pregnant and they suspected Andrew had achon. Here are pictures from Saturday.
Notice how Thomas has creeped into every facet of our lives. (Look for a future post on my thoughts regarding Thomas and the island of Sodor). Don't they look soooo happy to be in their strollers? Meanwhile we were being such horrible mothers taking them out for lunch. I have that mutant achon kid that hates the stroller and would walk everywhere. Really. I shake my head in disbelief when there is a discussion on POLP about achon kids not liking to walk because I would do anything to not wrestle Preston into a stroller!

On Saturday night we had a great dinner at Aunt Pat and Uncle Dennis' and Preston had a lot of quality time (ahem...unauthorized ice cream at the playground) with his cousin Caitlin and her boyfriend Will. He also got to spend time with Nana.

On Sunday Steve took us out to breakfast at the Pancake Cottage. The waitresses are so bummed Preston will be moving and becoming a Cracker Barrel kid now. Hopefully we can do one more pancake excursion before we take off.

***Note****Although there are a ridiculous amount of pancakes on Preston's plate, I did stop him at four silver dollars (this meal encompassed breakfast and lunch) but had I not, he may have eaten them all. The kid loves his pancakes.

Then we burned off the calories by washing my car and my sister's. Preston helped Uncle Steve with the hose and washing the wheels.

In the spirit of the Olympics, Preston found a rather large rock in my parents' garden which he proceeded to chuck all over the driveway (far away from cars and small animals mind you). Here is the future shot put champion of the 2024 Olympics.

Kim, it sure looks like Preston was enjoying his pancakes. Caitlyn can put away several of those silver dollar size ones too. She eats and eats and eats and only weighs 1 maybe 2 pounds more than she did a year ago (a whopping 24 pounds). I sure wish that I could do the same. Sounds like you had a great weekend! Thanks for sharing the pictures! We always love to see pictures of Preston - the cutie!

Hilarious! If it makes you feel better, I took COLLEGE spanish and only remember "Tengo una cita con Benjamin a la uno" - I have a date with Ben at 1.
I'm feeling very conflicted about your move. You're my hip, trendy, cool New Yorker friend (uuhh..whom I've actually never met, but details, details). I am however very excited that you are moving into a giant house into a slower pace. Good luck with the move!
I seriously think Preston is hands down one of the cutest kids I've ever seen! I thought Owen could put away some pancakes but Preston puts him to shame!

So...PS - where are we all going to stay next summer now that you will not be in NY for the LPA conference?! heehee

Fun weekend! I took six years of French between high school and college, and I can't remember a darn thing, however I can actually recall most of the Spanish I was taught in Pre-K ! We should get these kids into a foreign language, or at the very least watching Dora and Diego!
Ratatouille is a favoite in our house. Seamus loves to shout "Let's do this thing!" the way Linguini does. I can't believe your New York weekends are numbered, but I'm sure the excitement about Richmond is building! I'm terrible with phone dates but I promise I WILL be calling soon!

I took french in high school and spanish in college. I don't remember any of it!! It sounds like you had a great weekend! And I think Peyton might be headed in Preston's direction with the stroller. She would rather walk everywhere she can as well. And about movie night...those pics were from the beginning, Pey went to sleep right after that. But Riley is closer to Preston's age, and she makes about an hour and a half as well.
And Ratatouille is a pretty good movie!! :)

and of course, Preston is just as cute as ever!

I liked this post; very cute and funny. Sneaky Caitlin.

The French thing is great and how is it all of us took years and years of a foreign language and can only remember "where is the bathroom?" (Donde esta el bano?). We're so pathetic *hangs head in shame*

Kim!

Adorable pictures! I love the pictures of him washing the cars. He looks really enthusiastic about the hose. Pancakes must be a kid thing! Caden Loves his pancakes too - it scares me .... I wonder if he realized he is getting full as he is inhaling his pancakes?! and yes, he does look very proud of that rock! cute ... cute!

It's funny - we've got a local breakfast haunt that we always take Liz to and they love her as well. I always think if we move away, it'd be quite hard on the folks at the restaurant. It'll be a rought few days at Pancake Cottage with no Preston.

Mmm, pancakes. That's our standard breakfast every morning, once we discovered the frozen ones from Krusteaz - Evan & Caitlin both love them, and they're the only things I can fix fast enough and still get Evan to school by 8am! What is with this early morning stuff? Can't Kindergarten start at 9:30 when I'm actually awake? LOL!

Kim, Best of luck on the move. Hope everything goes smoothly. Preston is adorable! He is such a cutie! My living room has Thomas all over it so I can totally relate too lol We just became friends and you're not that far from me and now you're leaving. Hopefully we'll catch up at a regional or convention sometime.
Take care, Sue
