Aunt Tinka was Here

Sorry about the not so frequent updates-and I was "subtlety"reminded by certain persons ...(ahem Mel &Rob) that I am slacking. Not only dos my new position afford me no free time on the Internet, but fall television has started and between my mother and I we have two DVRs going a night to capture all that wholesome goodness. God I love television.

Katie was here this weekend. That was super cool, but unsuper cool is the fact that I will not see her again until October 17th. I know that a lot of people don't get to see their siblings often, but I am so used to seeing Katie every weekend! Friday night we came back to the new Raab abode and Katie told mom and dad she thought the inside of the house was pretty awful... (lol!) Saturday Preston spent some quality time with the babysitter while us girls went for pedicures. I must say I am a wee bit disappointed in the pedicures here. I am used to a good massage-that includes some beating of my legs-here I was lucky to get a medium intensity rub for five seconds on my shins with the cream. The massage chair however was so hard it was painful, so what I think they need to do is lessen the massage on the chair and increase the massage on the legs. And while we are on things I don't think I will ever get used to-I really am having a hard time understanding the lack of speed on the highways here. I really don't see how people get from point A to point B in time. There is just one speed and it is freakin 55 mph regardless of the lane one is traveling in. There have been quite a few curse words thrown around on my way to work (sorry Marrah). So I propose that Virginia drivers step on it. God-I should run this state. ;-)

Here are Katie and Preston hanging out in the "attic" or third floor.
Here is Preston being a goof ball on the porch.

We also took Katie shopping to the Stony Pointe Fashion Park. The malls here are quite amazing. Saturday night Katie and I attended a "passion party" hosted by one of Jordana's neighbors. Katie has attended a few of these (her friends obviously way more adventurous than mine) and it was such a fun girls night out. Due to this being a family blog, I will refrain from getting into detail regarding same, so suffice it to say we had a lot of laughs and I got to meet some really great girls.

On Sunday we had a nice breakfast from Panera and then we went to the Short Pump Mall. There was a cute children's train ride that Preston and I went on and I'd show you pictures but Katie took them on her camera despite my protests and of course they are not available at the present moment, so I'll have to do an addendum to this post when she gets around to it! Preston had a blast riding on the coal car around the outdoor mall. When we got home we watched Big Blue win again (yay!) and then watched the Emmy's. Here are some pics of the dude!

Love the pictures and so glad you got to see your sis, I am used to seeing mine almost daily and it would definitely be hard to go cold turkey! I don't know what's up with my blog, but my bloglist hasn't updated your site, so I have been missing it unintentionally, I love the video of Preston from after his lip boo boo!

Glad you're settling in, it's funny how it takes awhile to find the best hairdresser, drycleaners, etc.. I'm convinced you'll find a great place for a manicure. Check some web sits and chat with co-workers! Don't give up. Don't think anything can be done with the driving though.

Preston is so freakin cute!! Did he make it out of that bucket ok? I can just see most kids I know taking a header out of that one! Sounds like a great weekend with your sister. I could really go for a pedicure too!

Love the pics - Preston is cute as ever!! I love his smile in the first pic with your sister! It sounds like you had a great time with your sister visiting!

As far as the driving, just drive up to Northern VA once in a while and you'll be reminded of NY driving . . . you don't have to tell them to step on it there, but yes, once you are out of Northern VA it is another story. :)

Aw, Preston must have been so happy to see his auntie! Sounds like you guys had a great time. Love the super smiley pic of him with Katie! And hello? You have something called a "Fashion Park?" I must see this!! Between that and Wawa, I might just be making a roadtrip sometime soon :-)

I moved from New Jersey to Maryland over 3 years ago, and I'm still not used to the drivers around here. They are awful!

I'm with you on the television. "The Office" comes back on Thursday night, so my world is going to stop from 9-10pm.

Kim!

Love the pictures ... Preston is getting so big! He truly looks all boy and no more baby :0(
I love the pic of him in the bucket ... what a character!
I'm so glad you got to spend some much needed time with your sister!
Soon you will adjust to the Virginia way of life and you will go back to visit NY and won't believe you used to live there. Where we live now the pace of life is much slower than where we lived 6 years ago ... now I go back to that side of the mountains and can't believe I used to deal with the traffic daily!

Glad that you had a great visit with your sister. The photos were great.

You went to a "Simple Pleasures" party. My mind is going in a hundred different directions on what was going on there.

I should know I have been to at least 1 in my day. LOL

Hi!
It's hilarious listening to you adjust to the slower pace. Deep breaths! Short Pump mall huh? Sounds like a place my ex boyfriend would love!
Haha!
Take care!

I had a blast this past weekend! I'm looking forward to my next trip down there for some pumpkin picking and Glory Days (since we didn't go this time around).

If you don't have the pictures in your email today I will go outside and chuck my camera (and Nico) so far they will land at Thistledew. I mean it.

I'm eagerly awaiting my passion party booty! lol Jordana's face was priceless. Also, the next time I'm down there we should check out her pedi place. I'm sure I'll be in desperate need of one by then. Love you!
