Preston is Really a Big Boy

I had to do it.  I broke down.  My child is almost five. One thing that we LP parents know is to treat your child like their age, not their size.  Achon kids have average size torsos, so height requirements on car seats and boosters are a tad skewed. Technically when sitting Pres is the same height as his peers, and because his height genes are the way they are, his torso is even a tad longer than some of his peers.  So it was time.

And of course I rattled off a very nervous text to Emily who assured me she felt the same way when Seamus was in a booster.  You are apprehensive.  I mean first of all it’s not bolted to the car and second he is now against the door as opposed to the middle seat.  Obviously he is happy as a clam because upon arriving at our destination he unlatches himself and opens the door.  Although I sound like a ride at Busch Gardens telling him to sit down, keep his arms inside the vehicle and the seatbelt latched fully until the car comes to a complete stop.  And because I still have not downloaded the New York pictures from my parents’ camera too, I leave you with some more Preston shots.

Pres just LOVES Barnes and Noble.  But I will share with you that he calls it, “Barnes and No-Balls”  Which is completely hilarious to me (and Aunt Tinka).

And how cool is this truck from Uncle Charlie?

i am speechless at how cute my godson is. I mean, he is too cute for words. Such a big boy. Barnes and Noble - a place his dad would never take him for two reasons: 1. it would likely require money spent, and 2. what if preston wanted a book read to him- then we would have a problem

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Thank you for the update! First off ... Loving the big boy seat! So cute, and he looks so proud ... I'm sure he loves the cupholder! When we travel long distances Caden gets to sit next to the door because the portable DVD player has no where to hook on in the middle. He loves the special treat and has even learned how to roll down the window - Great. Now I understand what those window locks are all about.
The "Barnes and No-balls" ... love it! You have me laughing out loud at my desk :0) So cute he loves books! I know he is going to be a doctor someday!
Very cool new tractor! Of course he loves it!

He looks great in that booster!! Seamus loves unbuckling himself also. And let's not forget the cupholder - now we are totally awesome! Isn't it amazing how you just can't believe they will fit in it...and then they hop in there and it looks like it was made for them. Happy travels in the cool new ride, Pres!

Awww...he looks so excited and proud to be in a booster!!! It is so hard though sometimes to remember to treat them according to their age and not size. I am glad all of you guys are going through these things first so I can annoy you guys with all my questions later on! lol
And seriously...Barnes and No balls...HILLARIOUS!!!! lol

I actually just put Ethan into a booster seat in March or April. He was noticing all of his PreK friends had them & he was the only one with a actual carseat, So I figured it was time, I couldnt put it off any longer! He really loves his becausae it has reading lights, cup holders & snack trays built in! lol!
LOL! totally love Barnes & no balls! he's so funny!

It's strange at first having that booster....but I love it. Aidan does great. He fastens and unfastens the seatbelt on his own(only when the vehicle is parked of course). What a big boy he is. Love and hugs!

He looks so cute in his big boy seat!!! I love the little cupholder on the side! I also liked your Busch Gardens comment, very funny.

And you know what is still funny to me?...Barnes and No Balls. That's how we refer to it now when ever we pass one.

Congrats on the new seat Pres! Caty has moved into a booster within the past few months and loves it.

I couldn't help but laugh at the Barnes and No-Balls. Your son cracks me up!!

Pres is adorable rockin' the big boy seat! We moved Trace to one just recently as well. I figured if he was riding the school bus, he could ride in a booster. He's still in the convertible car seat booster though, so it is really tough for him to reach the seatbelt to buckle it! Barnes and No-Balls - Preston is too much. One day in several years he'll realize why you and Katie laugh so much at it!

Ps. I'm ogling the cute shoe selections too! are they all stride rite or is there another achon-friendly brand I don't know of?

Hey! My name is Cindy. I had a little boy, Avery, in Jan. that has achon. I look at your blog along with some others all the time. I was so scared at first and the blogs really gave me comfort. Preston is so adorable!!!!

Oh how I LOVE looking at all the adorable pics of Preston!! He is seriously absolutely ADORABLE (which you already know!!). What a big boy in his booster! Aiden (who is VERY tall for his age, was in his 5 point harness car seat until he was 5...because as a physician, i am NEUROTIC like that! Max may be 15...hehehehe...just kidding!)

Love it - Pres looks so happy in his big boy seat! Too funny about sounding like a ride at Busch Gardens! I know I sound like that when both boys are in the stroller and we are out shopping . . . first their hands want to touch everything we walk by, and then Simon has the urge every and now then to stand and see what is going on behind him.
Haha - Pres, you crack me up! Love the "Barnes and No-Balls"!
He is so handsome!! Awesome Tonka truck!
