Valentine Weekend

This weekend my friend told me about a program run by Lowes called Build and Grow. It’s every other Saturday morning and it’s free.  The kids all get their own goggles and an apron and they build a project.  Lowes provides hammers and nails and the wood is already pre-nailed.  This week’s project was a heart music box.  Lisa has a four year old so we met up for breakfast and then took the kids over to Lowes. What an awesome time we had.  Here’s my little Tim Allen:

He decided to give Grandma the music box.  I told him to keep it a secret until this afternoon.  We got to my mother’s and Preston said the following, “Grandma, I made you something but it’s a surprise….it’s a music box.”  My mother responds, “Pres, don’t tell me.  It’s ok, I don’t know what it looks like.” Preston: “It’s a heart.”  We went today to pick her out a pair of earrings to put in the box.  He kept picking out necklaces.  My mother only wears her cross.  I think I’ve seen her change necklaces twice in my lifetime.  So I tell Preston that Grandma doesn’t wear necklaces, to which he retorted, “Yes she does.  She wears the church one!”  I really don’t even know how to respond to this kid anymore.

This morning we baked Valentine cookies and cupcakes.  Notice his black teeth from eating the sugar lips and hearts he was supposed to be putting on the cupcakes!

And no Valentine’s Day is complete without a big bag of goodies from Grandma and PaPa!

Happy Hearts Day!!!!  We are off to make his Valentine’s for school and then I am hosting my friend for dinner and the Grammys and gossip!

I wanna know who eats all these cupcakes you and Preston bake cause there's no way looking at you that you are eating that much cake! LOL!! I love all the pictures and that you have a little baker who likes to help too. Cool project at Lowe's too. it's nice to see some places that still allow you to do something fun with your kids and don't have to charge you an arm and a leg for it. Miss you and Preston and can't wait until our next get together!!

I've always wanted to do the Lowes thing, but it seems like we've always got something going on. I love the concentration of Pres' face especially with the tongue sticking out. I'm sure that your mom loved it!

Gosh, I love that kid. I enjoyed the Tim Allen reference and the "can't keep a secret" story. I know someone else like that. :)

It always amuses me that when people are concentrating intensely on a project they stick their tongue out--I often see adults do this--is this a medical phenomena??i think i will check web md--Pres thank you so much for my beautiful music box and earrings-i have proudly displayed it on my vanity table along with my shoe sign from Kelly--I love you Baby Monkey

Hi! First let me say that Preston is so, so handsome. I looked at ur blog and love it. I am so new to the blogger world. I am still learning how to communicate with everyone and post things on my blog. I thank u so much for taking the time to stop by mine and welcoming me to the LPA family. I look forward to reading about u and ur cutie pie Preston. He looks like an average height child. I know my Lyla has very distinct features of an Achon, ones I do not see in Preston. The two of you look so happy. Ttyl

What a fun post! Not only are the pictures so adorable, but the story that goes with them is too funny! I love it when kids can't keep secrets! Our Home Depot had a build-it program for kids every Sat. some years ago. I don't know if they still do it, but I was always impressed with what the kids learned and how well the things they built turned out. Plus, it was always a great photo op. Gramma's sure cherish those hand made gifts!

What a great Valentine's weekend! Love the music box that Preston made for your mom and how he told her all about the surprise! :) He's the most adorable handy man, and I love his concentration with his tongue sticking out!
Jason has been wanting to take Simon to Lowes Build and Grow and to Home Depot's since we first found out about them many months ago, but they have yet to make it.
You two always make such yummy looking cupcakes and cookies! Simon has gotten used to have cupcakes in the house pretty often, and he asks what happened to them if we run out. :)
Miss you and Pres! We need to plan a get together sometime soon!
