Let Us Give Thanks

We spent Thanksgiving in New York again this year.  Wednesday night we went to a nice dinner at Aturo’s,  The food is so delicious I wish I could box up the restaurant and plant it right here in Midlothian.  Alas, I cannot.  Preston enjoying his meal! And after dinner, in true New Yorker fashion, Pres hailed us a cab.

Another year…another parade.  Preston of course, thinking he owns the city, pushed his way right to the front of the barricades again this year.  Minus a minor “snafu” with a woman who definitely believed she owned the City, the parade was a success.  The weather was amazing-more April than November.  Mom, Dad, Pres and I met up with Jason, Erin-Kate and their two kids, Mya and Collin.  If you recall, Jay and I have been friends since 1992.  It’s always a blast seeing them!

We had hors de oeuvres at my parents’ apartment before heading out to dinner.  It was the first year we ate Thanksgiving out of the home.  It kind of was a nice break from cooking and cleaning.  The meal was delicious and we went back to the apartment for dessert.

Halloween….

Ok I am finally posting pictures from Halloween…hey it’s not Thanksgiving yet, so….  I’ve been a blog slacker, both writing and commenting on others.  Part of me wonders how much longer I’m going to continue.  I don’t want to make the blog private because no one really wants to type in more passwords. I don’t want to stop writing completely because I know there are new families that have reached out to me on Facebook after finding my blog.  But it pains me to know the only way Preston’s father knows he is still breathing is by checking my blog.  I even once was the lucky recipient of a snotty blog comment “anonymously” of course, from his girlfriend.  More time and effort should be spent delving into child support arrears (by the way $19,000) and less time on what is going on in my life and making fun of how I look like we are eight years old.  So that is my blog quandary.

Halloween was both fun and miserable.  Fun because Preston couldn’t get enough of the trick or treating, miserable because the skies opened up as soon as we walked outside.  My friend Kim and her mom and boyfriend came with us.  Kim’s boyfriend’s daughter and Preston had a blast going from house to house and got a bucket full of candy.  He dressed up as a convict this year (like someone we know).  Despite the rain, he had a great time.

Mr. & Mrs. Marinelli

I watched my best friend get married this past weekend.  Her wedding was amazing, beautiful, wonderful…the weather…not so much.  Rain, snow, wind, frigid temperatures.  But it didn’t matter.  All bridesmaids put their hair up, we brought the mums inside for pictures and Mel was the ray of sunshine anyway.  Her rehearsal dinner was awesome.  Her sister in law put on a photo montage to music. Every time Preston saw himself  on the montage, he’d raise his hand.  Speaking of Preston, someone was an ANGEL.  I mean on the best behavior I’ve seen in months.  Stinker!  Here are some pictures.  I’ll post the rest on Facebook this weekend.  I love you Mel and Pete.  A lifetime of happiness and love to you both!

Love this picture.  Brett is either 6’9 or 6’10.  Preston called him the Big Man and he was Mr. Tiny.

Getting introduced was so much fun.  We all made up routines.  The best man Steve and I did a football toss/run for a touchdown.  Mel and Pete came in to “Thriller.”

My maid of honor speech was pretty awesome.  Remember for Katie’s I put in 30 Billy Joel song titles?  Well since Mel and I are lawyers, as are many of the people in the room, I did a closing argument.  Steve was my opposing counsel, Pete was his client, Mel was mine and the guests were the nuptial jury.  Complete with my mother’s glasses, I convinced the jury in a unanimous verdict that Mel was the best friend a girl could ever ask for.
